Alta Creates a Philippines Employee Relief Fund in the Aftermath of Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco)

November 23, 2020

Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco) struck Metro Manila and caused the worst flooding since Ketsana in 2009. Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco) is the fifth storm to impact the Philippines in just over three weeks coupled with torrential rains.

It is estimated that 195 of our Alta team members were directly affected during this latest typhoon. Some are faced with a grim reality of severely damaged homes and lost possessions from the flooding.

To their credit, our Philippines team is resilient and working together to help everyone affected. Many of us have asked what we can we do to help in the aftermath of this typhoon.

In response to Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco), we have set up an Alta Resources – Philippines Employee Relief Fund. This fund will be distributed to those employees who were directly affected by the typhoon. Our team in Manila is developing a plan to determine what the needs are and the process to distribute the funds as quickly as possible.

Alta Resources will make an immediate donation to this fund. Alta employees also have the option to make a one-time donation through a payroll deduction. This will allow those who have asked, an opportunity to provide support to our co-workers.

It is times like this that we are truly thankful to all our employees. We take to heart, embodying our Guiding Principle of Community, by contributing positively to our communities. As we can see, the needs continue to be great and giving will make a difference in the lives of our team in Manila who have been affected.
