As of April 2007 Alta Resources is recognized as a Tier 1 Service Provider in
the Visa Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP). Service Providers are
organizations that process, store, or transmit Visa cardholder data on behalf
of Visa members, merchants, or other service providers.
The Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) established a set of 12
industry-wide requirements designed to protect sensitive information from being
compromised. These requirements, which also include more than 175
sub-requirements, are directed at all businesses that store, process or
transmit cardholder information. Compliance in the CISP demonstrates Alta
Resources’ commitment to protecting the confidentiality and integrity of
cardholder and personal data.
Service Providers are categorized in the following three tiers, with the Tier 1
Provider Level considered the most comprehensive:
|
|
| 1 |
All VisaNet processors (member and Nonmember) and all payment
gateways. |
| 2 |
Any service provider that is not in Level 1 and stores, processes,
or transmits more than 1,000,000 Visa accounts/transactions annually. |
| 3 |
Any service provider that is not in Level 1 and stores, processes,
or transmits fewer than 1,000,000 Visa accounts/transactions annually. |
|
Alta's commitment to maintaining compliance with the CISP is an on-going
process that requires extensive measures to safeguard sensitive cardholder
information.
